Where Massage Education Meets Real-World Readiness

T.E.M.A. (Thai Esan Muscular Arts), established in 2014 (formerly Thai-Issan Massage Academy), is Hawai‘i’s first and only institution certified in Advanced Thai Massage. Designed for today’s massage professionals, our program combines flexible, self-paced study with in-person, instructor-led training—rooted in hands-on experience, not just textbook knowledge.

You’ll train in a comprehensive range of techniques, including:

  • Traditional & Modern Thai Massage (Core)
  • Medical Massage
  • Swedish Massage
  • Lomi Lomi
  • Shiatsu
  • Hot Stone Therapy
  • Prenatal Massage
  • Reflexology

While many programs rely heavily on bookwork, we believe skill comes from experience. At T.E.M.A., hands-on training isn’t an add-on it’s the foundation. You’ll work directly with instructors, practice with real clients, and gain the confidence needed to thrive in both wellness and clinical settings.

570-Hour Massage Therapy Licensing Program

To become a licensed massage therapist in Hawai‘i, students must complete a state-approved 570-hour training program and pass the Hawai‘i state exam. T.E.M.A. offers more than the minimum—our program is built to prepare you for both licensure and the real demands of a modern massage career.

This program blends structured, instructor-led learning with flexible, self-paced study. Through hands-on practice, foundational knowledge, and direct client experience, you’ll gain the confidence and readiness to step into your new profession with purpose.


What You’ll Learn


Phase I: Foundations of Massage Therapy

Build a solid understanding of the human body and the core principles of massage. In this phase, you’ll cover:

  • Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology
  • Professional ethics, hygiene, and sanitation
  • Equipment use and massage setup
  • Client communication and confidentiality

Total: 50 Hours


Phase II: Advanced Techniques & Client Connection

Strengthen your skills and build deeper awareness of client needs. This phase focuses on:

  • Understanding the body-mind connection
  • Proper body mechanics and therapist safety
  • Delivering full-body sessions with a range of techniques:
    • Swedish, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, Hot Stone, Prenatal, Reflexology, Chair Massage
    • Advanced Thai Massage – Level I

Theory & Practical Demonstration: 100 Hours


Phase III: Clinical Practice & Applied Techniques

Gain real-world experience by working directly with clients in a supervised clinical setting. You’ll learn:

  • Clinical massage procedures
  • Intake and client record-keeping
  • Collaborative learning and case feedback
  • Advanced bodywork for therapeutic results

Hands-On Clinical Training: 420 Hours


Total Program Hours: 570 Hours

Starting your journey toward massage licensure in Hawai‘i is simple and we’re here to help you feel confident from day one. Students who complete our 570-hour program receive a certificate of completion, making them eligible to take the Hawai‘i State Board of Massage License Examination.

  6. Secure Your Spot – Submit your deposit to confirm your enrollment.
  7. Start Classes – Begin hands-on training and move closer to becoming a licensed massage therapist.

Tuition Fees

Massage Therapy Licensing Program - 570 Hours

Includes: Tuition, Supplies, Books, Hands-On Training and Student Insurance

• Total Cost: $7,500 + HI State Tax

• Deposit: 30% (plus taxes) required to secure enrollment

Explore the basics of Thai Bodywork, focusing on core techniques, effective body mechanics, and client communication. Ideal for newcomers, this course offers hands-on practice and guided instruction.

12 CE Hours - Advanced Level

Advance your skills with our intensive program designed to elevate your expertise in Thai Bodywork. Dive into complex techniques, receive structured feedback. Beginner Level graduates receive an earned 20% discount. Limited spots available—secure yours today.

Massage Licensing Exam Tutoring

Our focused 6-week prep course is ideal for those who want to feel confident and prepared on exam day.

  • Schedule: Fridays, 10 AM – 12 PM
  • Location: Kapolei, HI

This course includes small-group tutoring, study strategies, practice questions and exams along with personalized feedback — helping you walk into your exam with clarity and readiness.
